Guwahati, 20th February: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma conveyed warm wishes on February 20 to the states of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram on the occasion of their Statehood Day celebrations.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media platform X, CM Sarma emphasized the deep-rooted connection and significance of the sister states in the collective journey towards progress, stating, “Our beautiful sister states of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram share a strong bond with us and are important players in our shared journey towards a Viksit Ashtalakshmi and as anchors of India’s Act East Policy. On their Statehood Days, I pray to Maa Kamakhya for their continued development and closer bonds among the people of our State.”
Arunachal Pradesh, situated in the northeastern part of India, observes its Statehood Day on February 20th, marking the formal establishment of the state after being granted statehood on February 20, 1987. Similarly, Mizoram, another gem in India’s northeastern region, celebrates its Statehood Day on the same date. In 1987, Mizoram was officially recognized as a full-fledged state of the Indian Union.
The northeastern region, often referred to as the ‘Seven Sisters,’ is renowned for its cultural diversity, breathtaking landscapes, and strategic significance. Despite facing unique challenges such as connectivity issues, insurgency, and socio-economic disparities, these states continue to progress, contributing to the overall development and unity of the nation.
