Assam: Man Killed In Rhino Attack In Majuli
Guwahati, 20th February: A man met a tragic end after being attacked by a rhino in Assam’s Majuli district on Tuesday.
The victim, identified as Padma Bherua, fell victim to the attack at Bhokot Chapori 1no. Padumani in the river island district.
Reports suggest that Bherua was out for a morning walk when he encountered the enraged animal. Despite efforts to escape, he succumbed to the assault.
Forest officials swiftly responded to the incident to conduct investigations, but encountered hostility from outraged villagers who held them responsible for the tragedy. Villagers criticized the forest department, alleging negligence on their part.
The incident underscores the ongoing challenges of human-wildlife conflict in the region and raises questions about the adequacy of preventive measures and response protocols.
