Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Highlights Progress in Waterways Development

National Desk, 20th February: Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal asserted on Tuesday that 90 percent of projects aimed at developing waterways over the past decade have been successfully completed.

Addressing a gathering at a program commemorating the inauguration and laying of foundation stones for projects by the Inland Waterways Authority of India, valued at over Rs 284 crore, Sonowal encouraged young people to leverage the potential offered by enhanced waterways. He emphasized the benefits of cheaper goods transportation and the abundance of maritime career opportunities associated with improved water routes.

Sonowal underscored the significance of timely and high-quality project execution, citing it as a hallmark of good governance under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Earlier this month, as part of efforts to revitalize the Inland Water Transport sector and enhance connectivity in the Northeastern Region, Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated key projects totaling over Rs 254 crore at Pandu Port, Guwahati.
