Northeast Desk, 25th February: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar is set to deliver an address to the ongoing budget session of the Mizoram Assembly on Monday, as confirmed by State Assembly Commissioner and Secretary Vanlalthantlingi. Dhankhar’s address is scheduled for approximately 12:45 pm, following his participation in the convocation of Mizoram University (MZU) at Tanhril on the outskirts of Aizawl.

Dhankhar’s visit to Mizoram, slated for a single day, will culminate with his return to Delhi after attending the MZU convocation and addressing the assembly. This occasion marks the second instance of a Vice President addressing the Mizoram Assembly, the first being M. Previously, the Mizoram Assembly has had the honor of hosting addresses from three Presidents: Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam in September 2005, Ram Nath Kovind in November 2017, and Droupadi Murmu in November 2022.

The assembly session, commencing at 10:30 am on Monday, will feature the Question Hour between 10:30 am and 11:30 am, according to Vanlalthantlingi. Taxation Minister Dr. Vanlalthlana is slated to introduce ‘The Mizoram Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2024’ during the session.
