Manipur Police Arrest Three KCP (N) Members, Arms and Ammunition Seized

Northeast Desk, 1st March: In a significant development, the Manipur Police have apprehended three individuals affiliated with the banned outfit KCP (N) from Imphal West district. Alongside the arrests, law enforcement authorities recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from their possession, according to an official statement released on Friday.

The seized items included five mobile handsets and a substantial amount of Rs 4 lakh in cash, indicating potential illicit activities linked to the apprehended individuals.

A police officer further disclosed that the recovered arms and ammunition are suspected to have been looted from security forces during previous confrontations, shedding light on the heightened tensions and security challenges prevailing in Manipur.

The arrest comes against the backdrop of sustained violence plaguing Manipur, stemming from ethnic clashes that initially erupted in May last year. Since then, the region has grappled with recurring bouts of unrest, claiming the lives of 219 individuals thus far.

The proactive measures undertaken by the Manipur Police underscore their commitment to maintaining law and order and combating illicit activities, ensuring the safety and security of residents amidst ongoing challenges.
