Nagaland to Regularize Government Employees on Contractual Basis Prior to June 6, 2016

Northeast Desk, 1st March: Nagaland authorities announced plans to regularize both gazetted and non-gazetted government employees who were appointed on contractual or ad-hoc terms against sanctioned positions before June 6, 2016. This decision was disclosed by an official on Friday.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio presented two resolutions in the assembly, which were unanimously adopted. The resolutions aim to establish a policy for conducting a one-time exercise to regularize Group A & B, as well as Group C & D employees, who were appointed on contractual or ad-hoc basis against sanctioned posts prior to June 6, 2016, and have completed 10 years of service.

The adoption of the resolution was confirmed through a voice vote.

According to reports within the cabinet, the precise number of employees to be regularized is yet to be determined, as individual departments will now initiate the process.
