Assam: Five Apprehended for Blank Firing Incident in Golaghat
Guwahati 3rd March: Five individuals were apprehended for allegedly causing disturbance and blank firing at a local eatery in Sarupathar, Golaghat district, Assam.
The incident unfolded at Aicheng Dhaba on Saturday night, where a group arrived in a car and purportedly demanded alcohol. A scuffle ensued between the group and the eatery staff when their request was denied.
In response, the miscreants allegedly resorted to blank firing. Despite the chaos, the dhaba staff managed to apprehend two of the individuals involved and handed them over to the Sarupathar Police.
In a significant police operation, three other individuals reportedly fled the scene after one of them fired a blank shot. Police pursued them and successfully seized two vehicles near Uriamghat Police Station and Bagori area of Kaziranga.
The detained individuals are identified as Gajen Bora from Borpothar, Dashrath Singh and Sachin Sharma from Rajasthan, and Abhimanyu Das and Uttam Das from Guwahati. Abhimanyu Das, who fired the blank shot, was among those apprehended.
A case has been registered, and an investigation into the incident is currently underway to determine further details and motives behind the disturbance.
