Manipur: CBI Files Charge Sheet Against Seven Accused in Bishnupur Armoury Loot Case

Northeast Desk, 3rd March: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a charge sheet on March 3 against seven accused individuals in the Bishnupur armoury loot case, as reported by sources.

According to recent developments, the CBI submitted its charge sheet in the court of the chief judicial magistrate in Kamrup (Metro), Guwahati, Assam. The charge sheet identifies the accused as Laishram Prem Singh, Khumukcham Dhiren alias Thapkpa, Moirangthem Anand Singh, Athokpam Kajit alias Kishorjit, Loukrakpam Michael Mangangcha alias Michael, Konthoujam Romojit Meitei alias Romojit, and Keisham Johnson alias Johnson.

The case revolves around an incident that transpired on August 3 last year, during which a mob reportedly looted more than 300 weapons, 19,800 rounds of ammunition, and various accessories from two rooms of the 2nd Indian Reserve Battalion headquarters at Naranseina, Bishnupur.

The mob had congregated to march towards Churachandpur, where tribal communities had planned a mass burial for individuals who lost their lives in the ethnic clashes that erupted in Manipur on May 3, 2023.
