Assam: Jeep, elephant safaris in Kaziranga’s Kohora range to remain closed on account of PM Modi’s visit
Guwahati, 4th March: In light of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s impending visit to Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, the Kohora range Jeep Safari will be closed from March 7 to 9 during the forenoon. Additionally, the Elephant Safari in the same range will cease operations from March 8 to 9, 2024.
The Park authorities have issued a notification indicating that despite these closures, Jeep Safaris and Elephant Rides in other ranges will operate as usual. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to make his inaugural visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve on March 8, 2024.
Scheduled to arrive in Kaziranga on the evening of March 8, the Prime Minister will lodge overnight at the Police Guest House and embark on exploration of the Kohora Range within the National Park the following day. The anticipation of the Prime Minister’s maiden visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site has invigorated both the state government and the forest department.
Forest Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, along with Chief Secretary Paban Borthakur, Director General of Police GP Singh, Special Director General of Police Harmeet Singh, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest MK Yadav, and other senior officials, scouted potential sites for the Prime Minister’s visit to Kaziranga last Tuesday.
State Forest Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary revealed that the Prime Minister’s visit to Kaziranga National Park is scheduled for March 9. The minister announced the arrangement of a jeep safari and an elephant safari for the Prime Minister’s excursion.
A security-focused meeting with the Kaziranga forest department was convened to address concerns and finalize preparations. The minister emphasized that the Prime Minister’s visit would augment the global significance of the World Heritage Site. Following his Kaziranga visit, the Prime Minister will journey to Arunachal Pradesh, in accordance with the minister’s statement.
