Nagaland: Assam Rifles Neutralize NSCN (K) Cadre in Mon District

Northeast Desk, 4th March: In a significant development in the Mon district of Nagaland, Assam Rifles successfully neutralized a cadre of the insurgent group NSCN (K) while apprehending another.

Acting on precise intelligence regarding the movement of insurgents for potential abduction and extortion activities in the Sangsa village area of Mon district, Assam Rifles launched a well-coordinated operation on the night of March 3-4, 2024.

Encountering the insurgents, the Assam Rifles troops faced gunfire from the militants. In response, the Assam Rifles forces retaliated, resulting in a firefight.

During the exchange, one insurgent was eliminated, while another was apprehended alive. The operation also led to the recovery of significant arms and ammunition, including an automatic rifle, an automatic pistol, grenades, and various war-like stores.

According to intelligence inputs, the insurgent cadres involved are affiliated with the NSCN (K-Rebel) faction. This operation underscores the ongoing efforts of Assam Rifles in combating insurgency and maintaining peace and security in the region.
