Election Commission Team To Visit Assam Ahead of National Elections
Guwahati, 5th March: An Election Commission of India (ECI) delegation is embarking on a two-day visit to Assam today. Their agenda includes meetings with state officials, political parties, and various organizations to gather feedback and insights regarding the upcoming national elections.
Among the key discussions on the itinerary is the examination of security arrangements, with deliberations planned with the state police to ensure the smooth conduct of the electoral process.
In a separate development, the state government has forwarded a request to the ECI urging for the elections to be scheduled before the Bohag Bihu festival. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has voiced optimism that aligning the elections with the festival would foster a more celebratory and engaged electorate.
Both the Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary are slated to advocate for the consideration of their proposal during the ECI team’s visit, highlighting the potential benefits of synchronizing the electoral timeline with the cultural significance of the Bohag Bihu festival.
