Sikkim Govt launches Jan Aushadi Kendra and health facilities in Sochakgang
Northeast Desk, 5th March: The Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim, orchestrated a significant event on March 5th, inaugurating various healthcare initiatives aimed at bolstering medical infrastructure and services across the state. The event witnessed the inauguration of the Jan Aushadi Kendra, inpatient facilities at a 10-bedded Ayush Hospital, and a state-of-the-art 10-bed tele ICU at New STNM Hospital, Sochakgang.
The program saw the esteemed presence of Mr. Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Governor of Sikkim, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, along with Mr. Kunga Nima Lepcha, Minister of Health & Family Welfare Department, who attended as the Guest of Honour. Notable figures such as Mr. KB Gurung, Advisor, Health & Welfare Department, Mr. AB Karki SCS, Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, and Mr. Srikanth Nadhamuni, Founder, CTO Aadhaar & Chairman 10 Bed ICU, were also present, alongside doctors from STNM Hospital and representatives from sponsoring organizations.
The inauguration commenced with the official opening of the Jan Aushadi Kendra by Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, followed by the unveiling of the inpatient facilities at the 10-bedded Ayush Hospital. Governor Acharya interacted with admitted patients, emphasizing the significance of the healthcare milestones in improving accessibility and reducing patient burden.
In his address, Governor Acharya underscored the transformative impact of the inaugurated facilities on healthcare accessibility and lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership. He praised the growth of the AYUSH sector, highlighting its role in promoting holistic healing and positioning Sikkim as a hub for health tourism.
Minister Kunga Nima Lepcha reiterated the benefits of the healthcare initiatives, emphasizing the role of super specialists and advanced medical technology in delivering quality healthcare to the public. He extended gratitude to Governor Acharya for inaugurating the schemes and highlighted the enhanced treatment opportunities now available to the public.
Mr. Srikanth Nadhamuni shed light on the innovative 10 Bed ICU Project, designed to establish critical care infrastructure in rural and smaller government hospitals. He elaborated on the project’s five pillars, including ICU medical equipment, digital healthcare technology, tele ICU services, critical care training, and community participation.
The program also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of various NGOs and industry partners in implementing the 10 Bed ICU project, with special recognition extended to HDFC Bank for its sponsorship. Noteworthy achievements by STNM Hospital and district hospitals were also felicitated during the event.
The event concluded with the virtual inauguration of the 10-bed Tele ICU at District Hospitals & STNM, marking a significant step towards comprehensive healthcare access for Sikkim residents. Ms. Ruth Yonzon, Medical Superintendent of STNM Hospital, extended the vote of thanks, highlighting the collective efforts in advancing healthcare infrastructure and services in the state.
