Assam: Hindutva Leader Satya Ranjan Borah Warns Against Christian Missionary Institutions

Guwahati, 5th March: Satya Ranjan Borah, a prominent Hindutva leader from Assam, has raised concerns over Christian missionary institutions, alleging their involvement in conversion activities and targeting soft targets for religious propagation.

At a recent press conference, Borah issued a warning, threatening to take to the streets in protest against these institutions. He accused them of using soft-target based schemes to convert people, pointing out the presence of Christian symbols and idols in schools.

Borah questioned the need for churches within school premises when Assam lacks traditional Hindu religious institutions like ‘namghars’. He expressed concerns about the influence of Christianity on students and emphasized the preservation of Indian and Assamese cultural values.

“We are not against Christianity but against their soft-targeted schemes,” clarified Borah, highlighting his organization’s stance.

Borah claimed to have officially communicated with the institutions’ heads but received no response. He also mentioned readiness for talks with Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma while asserting resistance against any environment resembling religious tensions seen in Manipur.

Asserting their stance, Borah declared intentions to participate in protests against Christian missionary educational institutions in the state, aiming to safeguard cultural and religious identities.

Meanwhile, Christian institutions in Assam reported facing harassment, with Hindu outfits urging the removal of religious symbols from educational institutions. Recent attacks targeted schools, including Don Bosco Institutions and Jorhat Carmel School, escalating tensions and prompting anti-Christian posters to be displayed outside various schools across Assam.
