Assam: 1 dead, injured after SUV collides with auto-rickshaw in Bongaigaon

Guwahati, 6th March: In a tragic incident, one individual was killed while ten others were injured after a head-on collision between an SUV and an auto-rickshaw in Assam’s Bongaigaon.

The incident occurred on Wednesday in the Deuripara area of Bongaigaon.

The deceased has been identified as Bishnu Chowdhury, while all eleven individuals involved in the accident were reportedly marriage caterers.

They were returning from a wedding ceremony on the intervening night of Tuesday-Wednesday when the collision occurred.

The collision involved a Fortuner SUV and an auto-rickshaw, bearing registration numbers AS26E8844 and AS19AC3447, respectively.

As per sources, the auto-rickshaw sustained severe damage in the accident.

Following the collision, the Fortuner fled the scene but was later apprehended in South Salmara.

Meanwhile, the injured victims have been rushed to the Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College (FAAMC) in Barpeta for medical treatment.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway by the authorities to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the tragic collision.
