Guwahati, 7th March: In a significant development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to become the first Prime Minister to visit Kaziranga National Park in Assam since 1957. This historic visit marks a milestone as no other Prime Minister has made this journey in over six decades.
Assam’s crown jewel, Kaziranga National Park, boasts the largest habitat of rhinos, over 600 species of birds, a thriving population of dolphins, and one of the highest densities of tigers. Taking to social media, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared a glimpse of the stunning wildlife awaiting Prime Minister Modi during his visit to the park.
Prime Minister Modi’s two-day visit to Assam will commence on Friday, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several significant development projects. Chief Minister Sarma unveiled the itinerary during a press conference, highlighting Modi’s overnight stay at the park, a UNESCO Heritage Site renowned for its one-horned rhinos.
On March 9, Modi is scheduled to embark on a safari within the park before departing for Jorhat to participate in various events, including the inauguration of a statue honoring the legendary Assamese warrior Lachit Borphukan in Upper Assam.
To accommodate the Prime Minister’s visit, jeep safaris in the Kohora range will be suspended from March 7th to March 9th morning, while elephant safaris in the same area will be halted on March 8th and 9th. However, all other safari options in the park will remain operational.
Officials are making necessary arrangements to ensure the Prime Minister’s safety and enjoyment during his inaugural visit to Kaziranga National Park, showcasing Assam’s rich biodiversity and cultural heritage.
