Increased Frequency of Chartered Flights Supports CAPF Personnel in Manipur

Northeast Desk, 7th March: The Union Home Ministry has responded to the heightened security challenges in Manipur by doubling the availability of chartered aircraft for CAPF personnel traveling between Kolkata and Imphal. This enhancement, initially effective until September 30, aims to facilitate the frequent movement of personnel in and out of Imphal due to the dynamic security situation in Manipur.

The increased frequency of flights from three days to six days per week addresses the need for timely induction and de-induction of CAPF personnel in Manipur. As the situation evolves, the Home Ministry remains vigilant, ensuring adequate support for security forces until normalcy is restored.

Since the outbreak of ethnic violence in May 2023, Manipur has witnessed significant reinforcements, with 150 additional CAPF companies deployed to the state. Despite operational challenges related to ticket pricing and aircraft availability, efforts continue to ensure the smooth functioning of the air courier service, crucial for maintaining security in the region.
