Sikkim: SIBLAC Mourns the Passing of Biraj Adhikari
Northeast Desk, 7th March: The Sikkim Bhutia Lepcha Apex Committee (SIBLAC) expressed profound condolences to the family, friends, and associates of the late Biraj Adhikari, who passed away this morning. Adhikari was not only a politician but also a revered statesman who dedicated his life to serving the people of Sikkim.
As the General Secretary of the Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee (SPCC), Adhikari emerged as a symbol of hope for many, advocating tirelessly for justice and equality for all Sikkimese, despite facing numerous challenges.
In a significant move in 2006, amidst discontent with the existing leadership, Adhikari took the courageous step to part ways with the SPCC and joined the Sikkim Himali Rajya Parishad (SHRP), where he served as the spokesperson. His unwavering commitment to his ideals led him to establish the Sikkim National People’s Party (SNPP) in 2008.
Adhikari’s influence transcended politics; he was a visionary leader whose passion and dedication inspired countless individuals.
Various political parties including SKM, SDF, and CAP BJP have also conveyed their heartfelt condolences on the loss of Biraj Adhikari, recognizing his significant contributions to Sikkimese society.
