Four Rohingya Individuals Detained by Tripura Police
Northeast Desk, 8th March: Tripura Police on Friday morning apprehended four Rohingya individuals in Dharmanagar, North Tripura District, as they were en route to Hyderabad in search of employment.
Identified as Mohammad Arab (22), Samia (20), Ismat Ara (17), and Isha (15), the detainees hailed from a Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. They had crossed into Indian territory with the assistance of a Bangladeshi tout, with the intention of finding work in Hyderabad.
According to police sources, the detainees paid 30,000 Bangladeshi currency each to a tout named Abdullah to facilitate their entry into India. Their plan was to travel to Hyderabad in pursuit of employment opportunities.
During initial interrogation, the detainees disclosed that they sold rice and pulses received in the camp to collect the necessary funds for crossing the international border.
The detainees will be presented before the court for further interrogation, as investigations into the matter continue.
