PM Modi Inaugurates Development Projects in Manipur

Northeast Desk, 9th March: Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated projects worth Rs 3500 crore and laid foundation stones for various developmental works in Manipur.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh highlighted the significance of the projects, which include foundation stones for 36 projects totaling Rs 1748 crore and 45 projects amounting to Rs 1703 crore.

Singh emphasized the importance of the Unity Mall, a project costing Rs 149 crore, which will feature separate stalls for all recognized communities in the state. He thanked PM Modi for approving this crucial project proposed by the state government.

Additionally, Singh expressed gratitude for the infrastructure development of the Maternity and Child Hospital, the Manipur Technical University, and the Processing Zone of IT SEZ. He highlighted the benefits these projects will bring, particularly to the youth.

Singh underscored PM Modi’s suggestion to focus on sports to divert youth from drugs, leading to initiatives like “One Village, One Ground (Khungang Ama Sanabung Ama).” Foundation stones for football grounds with natural grass in seven locations were also laid.

Other projects for which foundation stones were laid include school infrastructure development, road projects under NESIDS, national highway projects (Imphal-Jiribam, Ukhrul-Taloi-Tadubi), and bridges under Setu Bandhan.

Inaugurated projects encompassed roads under CRIF, water supply schemes under Jal Jeevan Mission, Craft Handloom village at Moirang, and several national highway projects.

Addressing environmental concerns, Singh stressed the need to preserve and protect nature, particularly highlighting the plight of the Sangai. He emphasized the interdependence between humans and nature for survival and highlighted the rejuvenation work of Lamphelpat, witnessing positive environmental changes.
