BJP’s Nayab Singh Saini Sworn in as Haryana’s New Chief Minister

National Desk, 12th March: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Nayab Singh Saini was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Haryana at a rapidly-assembled ceremony in Chandigarh on March 12.

He assumed office after the resignation of Manohar Lal Khattar and the entire cabinet.

The new government is expected to be supported by six independent lawmakers and potentially five MLAs from the JJP, who are anticipated to switch sides but may not be offered ministerial positions. With 41 MLAs already in the 90-member House, the BJP is comfortably above the majority mark of 46.

Historically, the party has replaced chief ministers and reshuffled cabinets before Assembly elections to counter the anti-incumbency factor and revitalize state units and leaders. This strategy was employed before polls in Gujarat and Uttarakhand, resulting in victories, and in Karnataka, despite a loss.
