Delhi: Fatal Fire Claims Four Lives Including Two Children In Shahstri Nagar

National Desk, 14th March: Tragedy struck in the early hours of Thursday as a fire broke out in a residential building located in the Shahstri Nagar area of Shahdara, near Geeta Colony, in East Delhi, claiming the lives of four individuals, including two children, according to police reports.

Emergency responders, including police personnel and fire tenders, swiftly arrived at the scene upon receiving a distress call around 5:20 am about the major fire. Despite the challenging circumstances, nine individuals, including two children, were successfully rescued from the engulfed residential building.

“The building, consisting of four floors with a car-parking facility on the ground floor, became engulfed in flames, which originated from the parking lot and quickly spread throughout the structure,” stated a senior police officer.

Efforts to contain the blaze were intensified despite the narrow street layout. Fire officials managed to navigate the tight space and extinguish the flames. Subsequently, a thorough search was conducted on each floor, resulting in the rescue of three men, four women, and two children, who were promptly transported to Hedgewar hospital for medical attention.

As investigations into the cause of the fire continue, authorities remain committed to providing support to the affected families and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
