Assam: Two Labourers Including Woman Killed As Guard Wall of Brick Kiln Collapses In Bilasipara
Guwahati, 15th March: A tragic incident unfolded at the Kaimari brick industry in Kokrajhar district bordering Bilasipara, where two labourers, including a woman, lost their lives in a guardwall collapse at all brick kilns in Malgaon.
According to reports, the incident occurred when four labourers were working on bricks and inadvertently broke the guardwall, causing them to fall underneath the brick. The owner of the kiln promptly used a JCB to excavate the area and rescue the labourers. Subsequently, they were rushed to Bilasipara Model Hospital for medical attention.
Regrettably, one of the labourers succumbed to injuries at Bilasipara Model Hospital, while three others in critical condition were referred to Dhubri Medical College and Kokrajhar Civil Hospital for further treatment. Tragically, another labourer passed away while undergoing treatment at Kokrajhar Civil Hospital. The deceased have been identified as Hasina Bibi and Suraman Ali.
Locals have voiced concerns over the recurring accidents, attributing them to negligence on the part of the brick kiln owners. They have urged the Kokrajhar district administration to launch a thorough investigation into the incident.
In response to the incident, a police team, accompanied by Kokrajhar circle officers, has reached the site to initiate an investigation into the matter. The community awaits further updates as authorities delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
