Assam: Massive Fire Ravages Dhumarkur Daily Market in Bajali, Property Worth Lakhs Destroyed

Guwahati, 17th March: A devastating fire erupted in the bustling daily market of Dhumarkur in Bajali, engulfing six shops and causing extensive property damage estimated between Rs 30-40 lakh. The fire, believed to have been triggered by an electric wire during a power outage, quickly spread through the market area, leaving destruction in its wake.

Prompt response from the Bajali police and fire brigade helped contain the blaze, preventing further escalation of the situation. With concerted efforts from emergency responders and local authorities, the entire area was eventually brought under control, averting a larger catastrophe.

This incident comes on the heels of another tragic fire in Abhayapuri, Bongaigaon district, just days prior, where five individuals sustained injuries and three houses were razed to the ground. The affected families, identified as Abdul Karim, Subur Ali, and Abdul Rahim of Bhadaipara, were left reeling from the devastation caused by the fire.

As communities in Bajali and Bongaigaon grapple with the aftermath of these incidents, authorities are urged to bolster fire safety measures and raise awareness about preventive measures to mitigate such disasters in the future.
