Madhya Pradesh: Cheetah ‘Gamini’ Gives Birth to Five Cubs, Boosting India’s Cheetah Population
National Desk, 17th March: Union Minister Bhupender Yadav has announced the joyful news of cheetah ‘Gamini’ delivering a litter of five cubs at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh. With this delightful addition, India’s cheetah population has increased to 26 individuals.
Sharing the exciting update on social media platform X, Union Minister Yadav celebrated the arrival of the new cubs and emphasized the significance of this event. He hailed the mother cheetah, Gamini, who was brought to India from the Tswalu Kalahari Reserve in South Africa and is approximately 5 years old.
This recent birth brings the total number of cheetah cubs born in India to 13, marking a significant milestone in the country’s conservation efforts aimed at reintroducing cheetahs into their native habitat.
The successful breeding of cheetahs at Kuno National Park underscores the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders involved in wildlife conservation initiatives. As the cheetah population continues to grow, it offers hope for the preservation and revitalization of India’s rich biodiversity.
