Assam: BJP Minister Criticizes Congress MP’s Constituency Choice, Highlights Development Agenda

Guwahati, 17th March: At a joining ceremony of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jorhat, Assam, BJP Minister Pijush Hazarika criticized Assam Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi for expressing a desire to contest from Kaliabor instead of Jorhat constituency. Hazarika condemned Gogoi’s statement as an insult to the people of Jorhat and emphasized the importance of aligning with constituents’ aspirations.

Hazarika reiterated BJP’s commitment to inclusive governance, prioritizing service to the nation over electioneering. He expressed confidence in BJP’s electoral prospects in Jorhat, predicting a resounding victory with Tapan Gogoi emerging triumphant by a substantial margin of 2 to 2.5 lakh votes.

Highlighting the governance disparity between BJP and Congress regimes, Hazarika recalled corruption scandals during Congress’ tenure, including the 2G and coal scams, attributing them to Narendra Modi’s rise to power.

On the developmental front, Hazarika lauded BJP’s infrastructural advancements in Assam, such as the proliferation of four-lane roads and electrified rail lines, under the proactive governance of Himanta Biswa Sarma’s administration. He also mentioned the growth in medical and educational institutions and the generation of over 1 lakh government jobs in Assam, with plans for an additional 35,000 positions in the next eighteen months.
