Manipur: FOCS Condemns Grenade Attack on President’s Residence in Imphal
Northeast Desk, 18th March: The Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) issued a resolute condemnation following the hurling of a hand grenade at the residence of FOCS president Thoidingjam Manihar in Kongba Kshetri Leikai, Ucheckon Road, Imphal, around 9 pm yesterday.
During a press conference convened in Kakwa Boiroi Makhong, FOCS vice president BM Yaima Shah addressed the media, underscoring President Thoidingjam Manihar’s pivotal role amidst the prevailing tumultuous climate. Shah asserted, “In the ongoing violence perpetuated by narco-terrorists since May 3, 2023, Manihar has been at the forefront of FOCS, collaborating with various organizations dedicated to the welfare of the people.”
Shah further underscored that the attack on Manihar’s residence transcends mere isolated violence, symbolizing the broader threat looming over the citizens of Manipur. “FOCS has steadfastly championed community welfare and advocated for peace amidst escalating violence,” he remarked.
In a fervent appeal directed at the assailants, Shah urged them to step forward and provide a transparent elucidation via media channels and press regarding the motivations behind the grenade attack. He underscored the imperative of accountability and justice, asserting that such acts of violence are antithetical to the aspirations of a society striving for tranquility and concord.
