Tripura: Three Arrested with Cannabis Worth Rs 2 Lakh at Agartala Railway Station

Northeast Desk, 19th March: The Government Railway Police and Railway Protection Force made a late evening arrest on Monday, apprehending three residents of Bihar, including a woman, at Agartala Railway Station. The authorities seized cannabis worth Rs 2 lakh from the individuals as they were preparing to depart for Bihar.

A police official provided details, identifying the arrested individuals as Sanjit Kumar, Sambhu Kumar Yadav, and Mili Priya. A total of 46 kilograms of cannabis was confiscated from them.

“We routinely conduct checks on long-distance trains. Today, prior to the departure of the Rajdhani Express, we received a tip-off about three individuals potentially smuggling contraband,” the official explained.

Acting on the tip-off, the Railway Police Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police detained the suspects and confiscated 27 packets of cannabis, totaling 46 kilograms. The arrested individuals, residents of Bihar, will be presented before the court for legal proceedings.
