Ratan Tata Foresees Assam’s Healthcare and Semiconductor Sectors Revolutionized by Investments
Guwahati, 20th March: In a recent statement, renowned industrialist Ratan Tata has emphasized the transformative impact of ongoing investments in Assam, highlighting the state’s healthcare and semiconductor industries as focal points of development. Tata revealed plans for collaboration between the Assam state government and the Tata group to bolster Assam’s position in both sectors, marking a significant step towards enhancing the state’s global prominence.
Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his leadership and support, Tata underscored the pivotal role of these investments in reshaping Assam’s economic landscape. Through a social media post, Tata lauded the collaborative efforts aimed at advancing cancer care and semiconductor technology in Assam, envisioning the state’s emergence as a major player on the global stage.
The momentum for industrial growth in Assam received a major boost as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the foundation stone-laying ceremony for Assam’s largest-ever semiconductor unit in Morigaon on March 13. Under the ambitious Assam Semiconductor Policy 2023, the Rs 27,000 crore project, led by Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test (TSAT), is poised to generate an estimated 30,000 new jobs, heralding a new era of employment opportunities in the region.
The state-of-the-art semiconductor unit, equipped with cutting-edge technology including flip chip and ISIP technologies, is slated to become a technological powerhouse catering to various sectors such as automotive, consumer electronics, telecommunications, and mobile phones. With a remarkable daily production capacity of 48 million units, the facility is poised to drive economic growth and innovation while positioning Assam as a key player in the global semiconductor market.
