Football enthusiasts eagerly awaited the arrival of their favorite stars at the Guwahati airport, where the team, led by captain Sunil Chhetri, engaged with the media present.
Amidst the buzz surrounding the team’s arrival, the Assam Football Association (AFA) issued a fervent call to football fans to rally behind the Indian national team, affectionately known as the Blue Tigers. The upcoming match against Afghanistan holds significant importance, being a pivotal fixture in the FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup 2027 Joint Qualifiers Round 2.
Sangrang Brahma, Secretary of the AFA, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming match during a press conference, highlighting its critical nature for Team India. Brahma urged the residents of Guwahati, Assam, and the entire Northeast region to unite in support of the national team, emphasizing the symbolic gesture of adorning the stadium in hues of blue.
