Mizoram: Myanmar national held with Weapons at Indo-Myanmar border
Northeast Desk, 24th March: In a major operation on March 22, Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police successfully retrieved multiple weapons from a Myanmar national at the Indo-Myanmar border.
Acting on specific intelligence, a joint team comprising the Serchhip Battalion of Assam Rifles and the Police Department of Zokawhthar hamlet in Champhai district conducted the operation, leading to a significant discovery.
The cache of War Like Stores recovered included:
- An M4 Assault Rifle with a magazine
- A German Pistol with a magazine
- Two double barrel rifles
- Two single barrel rifles
- 20 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition
- Six rounds of 9 mm ammunition
- Two helmets
Additionally, a Myanmar national from Falam district in Myanmar’s Chin State was detained in connection with the consignment. The individual was promptly handed over to the Zokhawthar Police Department for further legal proceedings.
This successful operation underscores the collaborative efforts of Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police in ensuring border security and preventing illegal activities along the Indo-Myanmar border.
