Assam: Woman allegedly assaulted on suspicion of child trafficking In Haflong
Guwahati, 27th March: In a disturbing turn of events in Haflong, Assam, a Nepalese woman visiting her relative’s residence fell victim to a brutal mob attack on suspicion of child trafficking. The frenzied assault, perpetrated by local men and women, left the innocent woman critically wounded and traumatized.
The incident was triggered by a simple act of kindness – the woman offered food items to a child, arousing suspicion and unleashing a wave of violence upon her.
Swift intervention by law enforcement authorities prevented further harm to the victim, who was rescued and admitted to Haflong Hospital for urgent medical care. However, the police faced resistance from the enraged mob, resulting in injuries to several officers, with one being transferred to Guwahati Medical College for specialized treatment.
In response to the heinous attack, authorities have apprehended seven individuals, including four women, believed to be involved. This disturbing incident underscores the dangers of baseless suspicion and emphasizes the importance of upholding the rights and dignity of every individual in society.
