Arvind Kejriwal’s Legal Battle Unfolds as Custody Ends
National Desk, 28th March: As the Enforcement Directorate custody of Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi and leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), comes to an end today, he is set to appear before the Rouse Avenue Court. Kejriwal’s appearance follows his arrest on March 21 in connection with a money laundering case linked to the excise policy.
Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court is slated to hear a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking Kejriwal’s removal from holding the post of chief minister of the government of NCT of Delhi on Thursday. The bench of Justice Manmohan and Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora will preside over the matter.
Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita, has made assertions regarding the alleged excise scam, stating that Kejriwal will disclose the truth during his court appearance. She emphasized his intention to reveal details about the liquor scam and provide evidence to substantiate his claims.
In response to Kejriwal’s arrest, the High Court issued notice to the Enforcement Directorate on his petition challenging the arrest and the remand granted by the trial court. The court scheduled the matter for April 3, emphasizing that any release from custody would constitute bail.
In the backdrop of these legal developments, the AAP is expected to escalate protests in Delhi, while the INDIA bloc plans a rally on March 31 against Kejriwal’s arrest, indicating the intensification of political tensions surrounding the case.
