Arunachal: Zilla Parishad Members and Supporters Shift Allegiance to NCP in Yachuli Constituency, Affecting BJP’s Prospects

Northeast Desk, 29th March: In a significant political development, 5 out of 6 Zilla Parishad Members (ZPMs) from the Yachuli assembly constituency, along with their supporters, have merged with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), dealing a blow to the electoral prospects of the BJP in the region.

The move, led by Lower Subansiri Zilla Parishad Chairperson Likha Sanchore and four other ZPMs, namely Pistana ZPM Likha Tabo, Yazali ZPM Gem Ati, and Param Putu ZPM Khonda Dipung, as well as an Independent ZPM, marks a notable shift in local political dynamics.

Additionally, 5 Gram Panchayat Chairpersons and 17 Gram Panchayat members have also joined the NCP, further solidifying the party’s grassroots presence.

NCP (AP) candidate Toko Tatung, expressing gratitude for the new members’ support, outlined his development agenda for the constituency, pledging to prioritize the interests and needs of the people.

Tatung emphasized the importance of grassroots activism and urged the newly joined members to actively contribute to strengthening the party’s activities at the local level.

The decision to switch allegiance was attributed to dissatisfaction with the performance of the incumbent MLA and the BJP’s perceived failure to fulfill its promises. The defectors expressed confidence in Tatung’s leadership and hoped for meaningful progress under his stewardship.

Despite facing opposition attempts to reject his candidature during the scrutiny process, Tatung remained steadfast, emphasizing his commitment to democracy and the electorate’s right to choose their representatives freely.

Following the successful scrutiny of his nomination papers, Tatung reiterated his dedication to serving the people of his constituency and appealed to voters to support him for a better future.
