BJP Leader Criticizes AIUDF Chief’s Comments on Marriage
Guwahati, 31st March: BJP leader Ranjit Kumar Dass has delivered a pointed critique of All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) leader Badruddin Ajmal’s recent remarks regarding remarriage. Speaking to the media in Bajali, Dass highlighted the Union Government’s abolition of triple talaq, asserting that this prohibits Ajmal from marrying again.
Dass underscored a notable trend of minority voters aligning with the BJP, particularly in support of the Modi government. He attributed this trend to Modi’s intervention in abolishing triple talaq, which, according to Dass, liberated minority women from oppressive marital practices.
In response to Ajmal’s comments on marriage, Dass referenced the context of triple talaq, suggesting that Ajmal’s ability to marry multiple times has been restricted due to its abolition, a move credited to Modi’s governance.
Regarding Assam Pradesh Congress Committee chief Bhupen Borah’s aspirations to become the state’s chief minister in 2026, Dass remarked that the Congress has lost favor with the people. He suggested that arrangements would need to be made for Bhupen Borah to garner support, given the party’s diminished popularity.
Dass criticized the Congress party’s distancing from public affection, contrasting it with the enduring popularity of the BJP among the masses. He implied a significant difference in public sentiment between the two parties.
Furthermore, Dass questioned Sarbhog MLA Manoranjan Talukdar’s understanding of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), suggesting a lack of knowledge or awareness on Talukdar’s part regarding this contentious legislation.
