Assam: Karimganj Resident Arrested for Social Media Hacking Allegations
Guwahati, 31st March: A youth from Karimganj, identified as Shyamal Roy, has been apprehended on accusations of hacking Facebook and YouTube accounts. Roy, a resident of Karimganj, stands accused of unauthorized activities on social media platforms, allegedly for financial gain, particularly through manipulation of viewer counts and followers. The incident came to light following a complaint by Tupchi Nath, a woman from Silchar, who discovered that Roy had gained control of her Facebook page without her consent.
Nath, who was managing the page, noticed suspicious activity by Roy and promptly reported the matter to the authorities. Consequently, a case was registered at the Karimganj Sadar police station, leading to Roy’s detention for questioning.
The police investigation seeks to uncover the details surrounding the alleged hacking and determine the true nature of the incident. The victim, Nath, expressed concern over the unauthorized access to her social media accounts, prompting swift action from law enforcement.
