Former CM Pawan Chamling Rallies Sikkim Democratic Front Ahead of Elections
Northeast Desk, 3rd April: Former Chief Minister Pawan Chamling of the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) energized his party’s supporters during public gatherings held in Maneybung-Dentam and Yangthang constituencies on Tuesday, gearing up for the forthcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing the crowd in Yangthang, Chamling underlined the local connection by spotlighting the nomination of Kesham Limboo, a resident of the constituency, as the SDF candidate. Additionally, he expressed confidence in the capabilities of the SDF’s Lok Sabha candidate, PD Rai, emphasizing that Rai’s parliamentary experience would effectively champion Sikkim’s interests at the national level.
Encouraging the electorate to throw their support behind Limboo and Rai, Chamling rallied them to join the ‘Save Sikkim’ movement spearheaded by the SDF. He renewed his critique of the current administration, alleging widespread corruption and organized crime under the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) government. Chamling attributed various issues, including economic downturn and increased violence, to the purported mismanagement by the SKM regime, asserting that democratic rights have been suppressed under their governance.
“We implore the people to reinstate the SDF government to uphold the sovereignty of Sikkim, ensuring peace and prosperity for all, where justice prevails, and the aspirations of the people are fulfilled,” Chamling concluded, rallying support for his party’s vision.
