MHA Revokes FCRA Licenses of Five NGOs for Misappropriation of Foreign Grants
National Desk, 3rd April: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has taken stringent action against five prominent non-governmental organizations (NGOs) by revoking their Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) licenses. This decision comes in the wake of a comprehensive investigation uncovering violations, including the misappropriation of foreign grants intended for developmental purposes.
The affected NGOs include the CNI Synodical Board of Social Service (CNI-SBSS), Voluntary Health Association of India (VHAI), Indo-Global Social Service Society (IGSSS), Church Auxiliary for Social Action (CASA), and Evangelical Fellowship of India (EFOI). The MHA’s decisive move underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in the utilization of foreign funds by NGOs operating within the country.
By revoking the FCRA licenses of these NGOs, the government aims to curb any potential misuse of foreign contributions and uphold the integrity of the regulatory framework governing such organizations. This action serves as a stern warning to all NGOs to adhere strictly to the stipulated guidelines and regulations to avoid facing similar consequences in the future.
