Security Forces Seize Cache of Arms and Ammunition in Manipur Operations
Northeast Desk, 4th April: Security forces in Manipur on April 4 conducted extensive search operations and area domination exercises in the peripheral and susceptible regions of hill and valley districts, resulting in the seizure of a significant cache of arms and ammunition.
The operations yielded a multitude of items, including one locally made pistol, one locally made .22 revolver, one Pompi, one tube launching device, two 2” motor shells, two smoke hand grenades, three detonators of No. 75 MK-2, one Blank Fire Attachment, thirty-one empty cases, two empty magazines of SLR, two 38 mm rubber bullets, four 12 bore cartridges, one walkie-talkie set, and three bulletproof plates. These items were discovered in Champhai village, located in Imphal East District.
In a separate operation conducted in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts, security forces recovered additional items. These included one 51 mm mortar, eleven single-barrel (country-made) guns, one .22 country-made pistol with a magazine, one .32 country-made pistol with a magazine, six 51 mm mortar live rounds, and eleven live rounds of 9 mm pistol. These items were recovered from E Bungjang Village in Churachandpur District.
The successful operations underscore the commitment of security forces to maintain peace and security in Manipur, while disrupting the illegal proliferation of arms and ammunition in the region.
