LS Elections 2024: PM Modi, Amit Shah, JP Nadda among 40 BJP leaders who will campaign in Tripura
Northeast Desk, 5th April: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its star campaigner list comprising 40 prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP national President JP Nadda, who are set to spearhead the party’s campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha and by-elections in Tripura.
Tripura, with two parliamentary seats – West and East (ST) Parliamentary seats, is gearing up for elections scheduled on April 19 and April 26, respectively. Additionally, a by-election for the 7-Ramnagar Assembly Constituency is slated for April 19.
Former Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb has been nominated as the BJP candidate for the West parliamentary constituency, while Kriti Singh Debbarma will contest from the East (ST) Parliamentary seat. Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder will vie for the 7-Ramnagar Assembly Constituency, necessitated by the passing of BJP MLA Surajit Datta.
In a formal communication to Chief Election Commissioner of India Rajiv Kumar, BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh submitted the list of leaders slated to participate in the election campaign for the Lok Sabha 2024 and by-elections in Tripura. Singh affirmed that the list remains valid unless an amended version is submitted within the prescribed timeframe.
The star campaigner list features prominent leaders such as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha, Former Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, Nitin Gadkari, Sarbananda Sonowal, Kiren Rijiju, Rajib Bhattacharya, Mithun Chakraborty, Sambit Patra, Amit Rakshit, Pratima Bhoumik, among others.
With the deployment of such a formidable lineup, the BJP aims to intensify its campaign efforts and secure a resounding victory in the upcoming elections in Tripura.
