STF Raid in Assam Leads to Arrest of 4 Dimapur-based Narcotics Peddlers
Guwahati, 5th April: The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam conducted a raid on Brahmaputra Lodge at Adabari following a tip-off regarding a group of Dimapur-based narcotics peddlers operating from there.
The group was allegedly supplying narcotics to Azara, Mirza, and other areas in South Kamrup.
During the raid conducted in Room no 102 of the Lodge, four individuals, two men, and two women, were apprehended. Among the seized items were 17 packets of suspected heroin concealed inside soap boxes, with a total weight of 257 grams without the cover.
The accused have been identified as Jadav Bhawal (42), Bhaswati Gowala (45), Priyanka Das (30), and Deba Das (19). Bhawal and Gowala hail from Karbi Along, while Das is from Nagaland.
Legal proceedings are being initiated against the arrested individuals.
In a separate operation, the Banhbari police, led by Nilotpal Saikia, the sub-divisional police officer of Salbari, targeted the cannabis trade in Chunbari, Baksa. Two individuals involved in the trade, Phoolchand Ravidas from Chunbari and Sonauddin from Elangamari, were apprehended during the operation.
The raid, which took place at Phoolchand Ravidas’s residence, resulted in the confiscation of 5 kilograms of ganja. Additionally, a subsequent search led to the discovery of an additional 692 grams of ganja.
