Assam Police Seizes 20,000 YABA Tablets in Karimganj; 2 arrested
Guwahati, 6th April: In an ongoing crackdown against drug trafficking, Assam Police made a significant breakthrough on April 6 by seizing 20,000 YABA tablets during a search operation in Karimganj.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, an anti-narcotics operation was launched at Fakirabazar under Karimganj Police Station, resulting in the recovery of 20,000 YABA tablets. Additionally, two individuals have been apprehended in connection with this illicit drug seizure.
Earlier, Banhbari police, under the leadership of Nilotpal Saikia, the sub-divisional police officer of Salbari, conducted a raid targeting the cannabis trade in Chunbari, Baksa. During the operation, two individuals involved in the trade were apprehended, and a substantial quantity of cannabis was seized.
The arrested individuals, identified as Phoolchand Ravidas from Chunbari and Sonauddin from Elangamari, were caught in the act of exchanging 5 kilograms of ganja at Phoolchand Ravidas’s residence in Chunbari. Upon police intervention, both suspects were promptly arrested.
Subsequent searches of Phoolchand Ravidas’s residence led to the discovery and confiscation of an additional 692 grams of ganja. The total quantity of ganja seized from Phoolchand Ravidas amounted to 5 kilograms and 692 grams.
These operations reflect Assam Police’s relentless efforts to curb the menace of drug trafficking and ensure the safety and well-being of communities across the state.
