Tourists Encounter Obstacles Amidst Tightened Security Measures Ahead of Elections
Guwahati, 7th April: With the Lok Sabha elections on the horizon, tourists visiting India’s picturesque hill stations are encountering unexpected challenges due to intensified security measures implemented under the model code of conduct (MCC). Among those impacted, a tourist aboard the renowned Nilgiris Heritage train expressed frustration over the inconvenience caused by stringent security checks.
Expressing dismay, the tourist remarked, “They are checking us for cash, which is becoming an inconvenience for the tourists. They are interrupting tourists who are visiting these places. So, due to this, tourists may be facing some issues. They should simply consider that if someone is a tourist, they should let them go instead of searching their bags or cars.”
While the stringent security measures aim to ensure a fair and peaceful electoral process, they have inadvertently disrupted the travel plans of tourists, leading to frustration and inconvenience. Despite recognizing the importance of security protocols, tourists urge authorities to exercise discretion and prioritize the seamless travel experience of visitors exploring India’s scenic destinations.
As India prepares for the Lok Sabha elections, striking a balance between security concerns and the smooth functioning of tourism activities is crucial to maintain the country’s reputation as a welcoming and tourist-friendly destination.
