Former Congress Leader Gourav Vallabh Criticizes Party’s Stance, Joins BJP

Guwahati, 7th April: Former Congress leader Gourav Vallabh has voiced his dissatisfaction with the party’s stance on various issues, including its criticism of the country’s wealth creators. Vallabh, who recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), expressed his reasons for leaving Congress during a media interaction.

Speaking on his decision to switch allegiance, Vallabh stated, “When I resigned from Congress, since then I have been saying that I went to all the senior members of the party that we cannot remain silent on the opposition of ‘Sanatana Dharma’.” He cited Congress’s decision not to attend the Pran Pratishtha of the Ram Temple as a pivotal moment that influenced his decision. Vallabh emphasized his discomfort with Congress’s criticism of wealth creators like Adani and Ambani, stating, “Adani and Ambani have been criticized day and night by Congress.”

Highlighting his stance on the matter, Vallabh mentioned that when the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) gave Adani a clean chit, he stopped making statements against them and urged Congress leaders to do the same. However, he expressed disappointment that Congress continued to criticize aspects such as ‘Sanatana,’ the Ram Temple, and Adani and Ambani.

In his resignation letter to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Vallabh cited the party’s poor leadership and ideological differences as reasons for his departure. He refused to raise ‘anti-Sanatana’ slogans or criticize the country’s wealth creators, further solidifying his decision to join BJP.

Vallabh, known for his influential role in economic discussions, contested in the 2023 Rajasthan assembly elections from the Udaipur constituency but faced defeat against the BJP candidate. His political journey began in 2019 in Jharkhand’s Jamshedpur East, where he secured over 18,000 votes, positioning third behind then-Chief Minister Raghubar Das and Saryu Roy.
