Mizoram: Huge amount of narcotics, Indian and Myanmarese currency seized near India-Myanmar border
Northeast Desk, 7th April: In a significant crackdown on illegal activities along the India-Myanmar border, law enforcement agencies have made two major seizures, resulting in the confiscation of a large quantity of currency and narcotics.
The first operation, conducted in Jangliang of Mizoram’s Shiaha district, led to the seizure of a substantial amount of Myanmarese currency, totaling 7,74,74,500 units, along with 1,01,015 Indian rupees. This haul was recovered from the possession of two Indian nationals and two Myanmarese nationals.
Moreover, five Tata fighter vehicles were also seized during the operation.
In the second operation, authorities raided the Jakhaother area of Champhai district and intercepted a Myanmarese national in possession of 26.469 kg of intoxicating methamphetamine tablets. The estimated international market value of these seized tablets is approximately Rs 80 crore.
These successful operations demonstrate the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat cross-border illegal activities and uphold security along the India-Myanmar border.
Further investigations are underway to uncover the full extent of these illegal operations and apprehend those involved.
