Assam CM Sarma: Congress ‘In ICU’ as BJP Gains Momentum
Guwahati, 10th April: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma delivered a scathing critique of the Congress party, likening its current state to being in intensive care, during his speech at the Vijay Sankalp Sabha in Teok, Assam, on April 10. Sarma refrained from directly targeting the Congress, citing its weakened condition.
Addressing the gathering, Sarma highlighted the alleged corruption during Congress’s tenure, citing instances where job seekers were required to pay bribes to secure positions in institutions like Anganwadi. In contrast, he celebrated the success stories of youths from economically disadvantaged backgrounds excelling in professional fields like medicine and engineering under the BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Drawing attention to PM Modi’s leadership and the BJP’s initiatives in Assam and the Northeast, Sarma claimed that the Congress is currently in a critical condition, akin to being in the intensive care unit. He also accused the Congress of harboring envy towards successful women entrepreneurs, referring to them as “Lakhpati Baideos.”
Sarma’s remarks come in the wake of his earlier assertion regarding the end of insurgency and militancy in Assam, attributing the newfound peace to the initiatives of the BJP government under PM Modi’s leadership. He highlighted the significant strides made in advancing the state, emphasizing the absence of insurgency not only in Tinsukia and Dibrugarh but also in other regions like Karbi Anglong and Upper Assam.
The Chief Minister’s statements underscore the BJP’s confidence and momentum in the ongoing political landscape, with Sarma positioning PM Modi as the leader of choice for voters in Assam.
