Andhra Pradesh: 13 children electrocuted during chariot procession amid Ugadi celebration in Kurnool district
National Desk, 11th April: A joyous Ugadi procession in Andhra Pradesh’s Tekur village turned into a scene of horror on April 11 when a chariot inadvertently came into contact with an overhead high-voltage electric wire, injuring at least 13 children.
The incident, which occurred during the festivities marking the Telugu New Year, sent shockwaves through the community in the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh.
The injured children were swiftly rushed to a nearby hospital in Kurnool for urgent medical attention. Fortunately, doctors reassured that there was no immediate threat to their lives, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the tragedy.
Ugadi holds immense cultural significance for the people of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka, symbolizing the onset of prosperity and renewal in the Telugu calendar.
