PM Modi to Campaign in Assam, Predicts Victory for BJP Ally AGP
Guwahati, 12th April: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to hold a campaign rally in Nalbari, Assam, on April 17, ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed confidence in the BJP’s prospects, predicting victory in 13 out of 14 seats, with strong margins expected in Dibrugarh and Jorhat constituencies.
Sarma disclosed that PM Modi would be campaigning for the BJP ally Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) candidate Phani Bhushan Choudhury from the Barpeta constituency. The rally, scheduled at the Govt Gurdon HS School playground in Nalbari, aims to bolster support for Choudhury and the AGP.
In a candid remark, Sarma welcomed the potential visit of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, expressing confidence that their presence would only strengthen BJP’s position. He reiterated his willingness to assist them if needed, while asserting the widespread popularity of PM Modi over Rahul Gandhi.
Sarma’s comments come amid a political landscape in Assam marked by a series of defections from Congress to BJP, underscoring the prevailing dominance of the BJP in the region.
