Assam CM Criticizes Congress, Advocates for Peaceful State Ahead of Elections
Guwahati, 12th April: During an election campaign rally in Chabua, Dibrugarh district, the Chief Minister of Assam took aim at the Congress party while advocating for a peaceful and progressive Assam in the lead-up to the Lok Sabha polls.
Addressing the crowd, the CM pointed out the lack of Assamese cultural representation among past Congress Prime Ministers, noting their absence from wearing the Assamese Gamusa in Delhi and their limited visits to Assam. This critique underscored a perceived disconnection between Congress leadership and the cultural fabric of Assam, highlighting the significance of local engagement and representation.
Expressing concerns about the adverse effects of strikes on Assam’s development, the CM asserted, “we cannot allow strikes to hinder Assam’s progress.”
Shifting focus to the electoral arena, the CM questioned the candidacy of Lurinjyoti Gogoi, pondering why an individual from a single party is contesting elections. Criticizing Gogoi’s candidacy as emblematic of political opportunism, the CM remarked, “Lurinjyoti Gogoi is leveraging the Congress party for personal gain.”
Reiterating the vision for Assam, the CM reiterated the aspiration for a state free from violence and disruptions, declaring, “We envision an Assam devoid of bloodshed and strikes.”
