Manipur: Security Forces Uncover Arms Cache Amidst Heightened Tensions in Thoubal District
Northeast Desk, 13th April: Security forces have intensified their efforts in the hill and valley districts, conducting search operations to ensure the safety of vulnerable regions. During these operations, a significant cache of weapons and explosives was unearthed in Yerum Ching, Thoubal District.
The recovered items include an SBBL gun, an SMG Carbine with its magazine, a pistol with a magazine, mortar bombs, hand grenades, tear smoke shells, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), and various other ammunition and equipment. These findings underscore the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the region.
Meanwhile, tensions escalated in Heirok under Thoubal district, following reports of an armed attack in the early hours of the day. Armed miscreants’ assault prompted a defensive response from village volunteers, resulting in a clash that left one volunteer injured.
Security forces remain vigilant in addressing the situation and ensuring the safety of residents amidst the heightened tensions.
