Assam Rifles and Customs Force Seize Contraband Liquor in Mizoram
Northeast Desk, 13th April: In a joint operation on April 12, 2024, the Assam Rifles and Customs Preventive Force, Champhai, scored a significant victory against smuggling activities in Mizoram’s Champhai district. Acting on specific intelligence, the teams intercepted a smuggling operation in the vicinity of Mualkawi.
Their swift action led to the seizure of 147 cases of foreign-origin beer and wine, valued at an estimated Rupees 17.64 lakh. The seized contraband has been handed over to the Customs Preventive Force, Champhai, for further legal proceedings.
The successful operation underscores the ongoing battle against smuggling, a pervasive issue not only in Mizoram but across India.
